PETERSBURG, VA - The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association announced its 2008 Preseason Predicted Order of Finish and All-CIAA Football Team at its annual Football Press Conference and Luncheon in Petersburg, VA.

Virginia Union is coming off of a 9-3 season and has been picked to finish first in the CIAA’s Eastern Division by the CIAA Football Coaches Association.

The Panthers placed seven players on the 2008 Pre-Season All-CIAA team, more than any other team in the conference. Lamar Little (SR/QB/5-11/204/Candor, NC), who was the 2007 CIAA Player of the Year, returns to the gridiron and highlights this year’s preseason team. Last season, Little threw for 2,340 yards and posted an additional 513 rushing yards. He posted 37 total touchdowns (28 passing, 9 rushing).

Also earning spots on the pre-season were Kynneth Moses (SR/OL/6-2/280/Chesapeake, VA), Laquentin Blair (SR/OL/6-4/260/Dallas, TX), Michael Hampton (SR/WR/5-10/180/Charlotte, NC), Tarian Donaldson (JR/RB/5-9/180/Virginia Beach, VA) and Gil Hernandez (SR/K/5-9/160/East Palo Alto, CA). Linebacker Brandon Smith (JR/LB/6-0/215/Virginia Beach, VA) was the only Panther selected to the pre-season team on the defensive side of the ball.

The Panthers will kick-off their season on Thursday, August 28th against East Stroudsburg University. Kick-off is set for 7:30 PM on ESU’s campus. For additional information, please contact the VUU Office of Sports Information at tbsykes@vuu.edu or visit www.vuusports.com.
