The Lady Panthers (2-8 overall, 1-6 CIAA) defeated Lincoln (PA) (8-6) but lost to Bowie State (0-13), (1-11), (0-18). (Petersburg, Va. -- April 15, 2009) The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) announced the 2009 All-CIAA and All-Rookie Softball Teams and freshmen Rachel Washington receives ALL-Rookie honors. Washington, a freshman from Richmond, VA, played left field for the Lady Panthers this season. She has a .381 batting average with 13 RBIs and 16 runs scored. Washington stole 13 bases out of 15 attempts. Salisbury, NC - The Lady Panther’s softball team collected its first victories of the season over Livingstone College Wednesday afternoon. VUU improves to 2-20 overall and 2-16 in the CIAA. Virginia Union will return to the diamond on Saturday, April 11th for a three game spread. They will battle Lincoln University (April 11), Bowie State University (April 12), and St. Augustine College (April 13) all games are doubleheaders.
