RICHMOND VA — Virginia Union University Head Football Coach Michael Bailey has announced the 2010 football schedule.

The Panther's will play 10 games over 11 weeks, beginning Saturday, August 28th against Winston Salem State University at A.J. Simeon Stadium in High Point North Carolina. The game against Winston Salem State resurrects a storied CIAA rivalry as the Rams return to the conference leaving in 2005; kickoff is scheduled for 6:30 PM

On September 4^th the Panthers then travel to Durham, North Carolina to play CIAA Southern Division powerhouse Shaw University in a rematch of the 2007 CIAA Championship Game. After a September 11^th Bye week the Panthers play their first of four home games at Hovey Field against Lincoln University of Pennsylvania.

The Panthers then play a 3 game road stand including 2 CIAA Northern Division showdowns at Bowie State University and Elizabeth City State University. Bowie State, Elizabeth City State and Virginia Union finished the 2009 campaign in a three way tie for the Northern (then called the Eastern) Division Championship.

Then the Panthers begin a three game home stand beginning with October 16^th Homecoming game against CIAA opponent Johnson C Smith University. The October 23^rd Lucile M. Brown Community Youth Bowl will double as the “Battle of the Bailey's” as Saint Paul's College Head Coach and CIAA Coaching Legend Willard Bailey brings his Tigers into town to face the Panthers and his cousin VUU Head Coach Michael Bailey. The Panthers then close out the 2010 home season against Virginia State University on Senior Day, October 30^th

The regular season finale pairs the Panthers with the 2009 CIAA Champion Fayetteville State University at Luther Nick Jeralds Stadium in Fayetteville, North Carolina.
